Iris Blanchimont

Iris Blanchimont is a major character of the Atelier Iris Trilogy.

Although not considered to be the main protagonist of the Iris series, she is the title character.

Iris Blanchimon

Iris Blanchimont Is a character appearing in Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, and Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny, she is a little girl born in Eden, the origin of her birth is unknown during the adventure of the first Atelier Iris. However, Iris is the Reincarnation of Lilith, the entity known as the "Mana of Creation", Creator of manas and indirectly of alchemy, giving her name to the eponymous trilogy.

Iris would later become the common name for Lilith's reincarnations in the sub-series, as shown by Iris Fortner in Grand Phantasm.

The name ‘’Blanchimont‘’, which Iris bears in the first two opuses, comes from Viese Blanchimont who takes on the role of surrogate mother to her. She grew up alongside Felt and Viese, as a family. Later; during the events of the first Atelier Iris, She became the last living person to have lived in Eden,

Role

Ateiler Iris: Eternal Mana

Iris is the greatest alchemist that existed during the golden age of Avenberry. Although many alchemists existed during the golden age, Iris was regarded as having amazing skills and knowledge. She created the Iris Theories, which to this day are used by alchemists. Iris is a peaceful and kind person, but completely changes when she starts her experiments.

Iris claims that she's never raised her own family, although it's later revealed that she is the mother of Lita Blanchimont.

During the Game, Klein meets Iris several times, but as she is already dead at the time of the events, it is via some kind of messages that she will give him clues for his quest. Alchemists were no longer common, and only very few of them still exist at the time of the first Atelier Iris, so Iris's ghost is therefore the last person who knows the informations needed to make the Ruby Prism, in order to defeat Mull and the Amalgam, but also to allow Lita Blanchimont to continue living.

Ateiler Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny

In Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny, Iris Blanchimont is a little orphan girl, just like Felt and Viese, the main characters. She was taken in by Viese when she was wandering alone and homeless in Eden.

The little girl quickly showed herself to be extremely talented in alchemy, able in no time of creating Mana Objects without even using a Mana, a feat that proves she's not just an abandoned little girl.

At the end of the game, Viese discovers through the return of Palaxius, ‘the greatest Alchemist of all time’, that Iris is the reincarnation of Lilith, whose power is highly coveted.

Then Iris is destined for a great future through alchemy. After Atelier Iris 2, Iris is raised by Viese and Felt, and takes on the family name ‘blanchimont’.
