Mu Seqstanse is a supporting character in Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg, Atelier Elie: The Alchemist of Salburg 2 and Atelier Marie, Elie & Anis: Message on the Gentle Breeze. She also appears in other spin-off titles such as Atelier Marie GB, Marie & Elie: Two People's Atelier and Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator.
Mu (pronounced "Myu") is an exotic woman who hails from lands south of Salburg. She carries herself differently then those native to Salburg, and dresses in clothing that she changes often, according to her mood and the season (although she generally struggles with Salburg's colder climate compared to her native home).
She is a carefree individual who is able to stay calm and collected in any situation. Like most adventurers, she is focused on constantly improving her strengths and abilities.
Mu lives in the present, and takes life as it comes. She goes where fun takes her and lives a nomadic lifestyle.
Role
Atelier Marie
Mu can be hired by Marie very early in the game. Her stats are generally average, although her speed is well above average and is the highest by far of the "early" characters, making her a popular choice for the early game. Additional events detailing her past was added in ver 1.3, containing two new illustrations as well.
If Marie's friendship with Mu is high enough, there is an event where Mu complains about the cold and asks Marie to make her something to keep warm. Marie can learn how to make a unique item called the Sun Necklace from the academy's library. After making the necklace, Mu will come back to the workshop. She will pay Marie for the necklace, although she says that she's now gotten used to the cold.[1]
If Marie hears rumors about hoffen flowers, Mu will ask Marie about it if her friendship is 75 or more.[2] The rumor can be heard in the earlier years in the game, but the event relating to the flower won't take place until much later. If Mu's friendship is 80 or higher, hire her as an adventurer and take her to the Stoldel Waterfalls in August of Year 4. An event will play where Mu will reminisce about a past lover who has since died. [3]
Atelier Marie Remake
On Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg her role is basically the same, only difference is her artwork and animations features. She also has several newly written events made for the remake.
Atelier Elie
Mu's role in Elie is largely similar; she is an adventurer who can be acquired fairly early into the game and possesses a high speed stat compared to other "early" options. However, like with Kreis, there is only a small random chance of ever encountering her. Once the player has greeted her she will start appearing regularly.
Atelier Marie, Elie & Anis
Mu is one of the earliest adventurer options in the game. She can only be encountered by Marie, but can be hired by any protagonist. All her events can only be triggered when playing as Marie, however. Her special attack lets her attack all enemies on screen at once. Mu's events revolve around her struggles to find food for the day, and the ups and downs of life.
She is encountered in the Nearby Forest, where she is gathering edible mushrooms due to being out of money. However, when Marie meets her she has only gathered Oniwaraitake, and when this is pointed out My gives up and returns to looking for adventuring work. Mu can then be found in the tavern and hired as an adventurer (playable party member).
Her struggles continue, and she asks Marie if alchemy can turn things like rocks into food. Marie tells her it isn't possible, but is worried about her situation and decides to bring her something to eat. However, once the player talks to Mu again (assuming they have crafted a Lactcone), she tells her that she is already full from testing new dishes for the bar owner. However, another day Marie catches Mu unable to stop hysterically laughing - she has resorted to eating the Oniwaraitake after all. The two agree on that life sure isn't easy, and Mu gives Marie her remaining stock of mushrooms (50 Oniwaraitake)
