Bredolf Schigsal is a character in Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg , Atelier Elie: The Alchemist of Salburg 2, Marie & Elie: Two People's Atelier, and Atelier Marie, Elie & Anis: Message on the Gentle Breeze.

Bredolf is the prince, later king, of Schigsal kingdom. He often sneaks out from the castle and walks around the city of Salburg, visiting ordinary places such as the bar.

Role

Atelier Marie

The young prince of Schigsal Kingdom. He is son to Wind Schigsal, and will eventually take over the throne as the ninth King of Schigsal.

When Bredolf isn't being closely watched by his father, he has a tendancy to sneak out of the castle. He enjoys going out into town, although the fun that he likes to have can sometimes get him into trouble. He tries to remain conscious of his actions, however, and is a kind young man.

Marie may see Bredolf in town during the first year of the game. If Marie attends the King's Ceremony (May 23rd) after the first year in game, she will see Bredolf at the festival. Visit the Castle after seeing him, and he will give Marie a Castle Pass. Marie will be unable to get into the Castle without this pass, so it is a valuable item.

Atelier Marie Remake

Have the same role as the original game.

Atelier Elie

In Atelier Elie, the king wishes that Bredolf will take over the throne, but struggles to convince him. After Elie helps the king fake his own death, Bredolf believes his father has passed on, and it is now Bredolf who is destined to take over the throne.

Elie first meets Bredolf when she mistakes him for a pick-pocket. She will also catch him standing outside of her workshop, Bredolf telling her that his friend used to live there. Later she bumps into him by accident at the flea market. Helping him pick up what he dropped, she notices that he only carries gold coins. Elie finds all this strange and decides to find out his true identity, following him until she reaches the Schigsal castle and finds out that he is the prince of the kingdom. When encountering him again, he will give Elie a Castle Pass in return for that she keeps quiet about his true identity.

Atelier Marie, Elie & Anis

Bredolf is now the king of Schigsal and is engaged to Princess Lüne of Domheit. His role mainly revolves around his diplomatic duties as king, asking the protagonists for their aid to solve problems in neighbouring kingdoms.

Domheit and Schigsal previously waged war, but his diplomatic work has greatly improved their relations. Still, compromises had to be made and Salburg's yearly martial art contest had to be shut down. He wishes for people of his kingdom to visit the former enemy country and create mutual understanding between the nations. It then becomes possible to go to the capital of Domheit, Glackenburg. He'll also ask Marie and Elie to go with Enderk and Daglass to defeat the Frost Dragon in Kariel, as he cannot send a larger army without endangering Schigsal's own defenses. As compensation, the protagonists are free to hire the two knights as their bodyguards for the sake of their own adventures too.

Bredolf values alchemy but is also aware of its dangers. If the player crafts Gold, he'll warn the protagonist that it could eventually cause the value of Gold to drop, endangering the kingdom's political power.

If visited during his birthday, the player can obtain gold coins.
