Gold is a type of ingot found in Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland.
The recipe book containing the recipe for gold can be found in a chest on floor 14 of Orthogalaxen, which is not accessible until Year 3.
It is a high level alchemy item that is time consuming to make, and also requires the rare Ruby Prism as part of the recipe. It cannot be registered using Wholesale at any shop, but there are a two different methods of obtaining it outside of synthesis. The Iron Giant on the bottom floor of Orthogalaxen will drop gold upon being defeated, and Esty will also exchange gold at the castle for tickets once all of her personal requests have been met.
Gold is used most importantly to create the ultimate Golden Pie, which is required for the "Pie Shop Ending", and can also be a good source of income. It is also possible for Esty to request this at the castle as one of the available Front Quests, but it is not recommended as the gold can be used to make the pie, netting a much higher profit.
