Plot

During the festive Starbirth Festival of Lantarna, which celebrates the birth of the planet, in the Atelier, Resna Sternenlicht and Patricia Abelheim decide to make the festival of this year more unique by giving gifts to everyone who has helped them until now. Though Resna insists on remaining secret Starbirth Envoys, they are quickly found out by Saskia who finds their endeavor praiseworthy. They meet Izana on their way out, who inquires about their outfits, but Resna explains that it is to make the festivities more enjoyable for wanderers. Izana offers them her help but is denied by Resna who reminds her that she needs to study for the knight exam, therefore successfully keeping their plan secret.

Resna and Patricia proceed to hunt for materials in order to make a sleigh which will be used to deliver the gifts. They move forward to the capital where they encounter Tao Mongarten and Lent Marslink. Tao acquired a map of ruins in the Ruine province and expresses his desire to restore it, which heavily weighs on Patricia’s mind during their conversation. Afterwards, while continuing their search for materials, Patricia confesses her conflicting feelings about aiding Tao, torn between her desire to repay him for teaching her so much when he was her tutor, and her fear of his departure upon completing the map as she only recently reunited with him and still wants to stay by his side.

They return to the capital and meet Reisalin Stout and Klaudia Valentz where they learn that Klaudia would unfortunately not be able to celebrate the festival with Ryza as he has to follow a caravan somewhere else due to her work. After she leaves, Ryza tells Resna and Patricia that she would still like to give Klaudia a present before she takes off, however, there’s an ore she can’t get her hands on to make her gift.

Upon hearing this, Resna and Patricia embark on a quest to locate the ore in a crystal cave as Ryza described. They are discovered by Empel Vollmer and Lila Decyrus who choose not to interrupt. They successfully acquire it and Patricia goes to the café to secretly deliver it to Ryza, thankfully she isn’t noticed by the latter, though not Iksel Jahnn and Rorolina Frixell who were acting like nothing was happening. Ryza is delighted when discovering the gift and goes to make her present right away. She meets with Klaudia and gives her two pendants, one for each, crafted from the Fated Ore, which significates that they’re fated to meet again. Observing their interaction, Patricia reflects on her thoughts and decides to repair Tao’s map.

It happens that Saskia is interested in history and has collected many books, so Resna is able to easily procure her with a copy of the map. Although they still need to go to the ruins to get materials from it, else the synthesis would not be perfect. They receive the help of Saskia, as well as Izana’s who finished studying and easily found out what they were up to, followed by Heidi. They work on the synthesis for a while, Resna takes a nap in between and has a weird dream in which Lanze Dach, Keithgriff Hazeldine and Empel are running away saying they will distribute the gifts in the blink of an eye. They finally complete the synthesis and Patricia confirms that it looks perfect. While Patricia leaves to meet with Tao, Resna seize the moment to give the others her gifts, starting with her teacher by giving her a heartfelt thirty pages letter to express her gratitude.

Patricia meets up with Tao in town, and reminisces on her past and present situation. Though they’re in fact from different timelines, the present Tao coming from a world where he’s younger than the Tao Patricia knows, she still admires him greatly. She gives him the repaired map and also confides her feelings to him. They share a heartwarming moment as snow starts falling and Tao promises her that he will definitely come back. In the end, on that same night, Resna and Patricia go to deliver gifts to their friend, and lastly to everyone in the Royal Capital by letting rain gifts attached to balloons from their sleigh.
