Plot
- See Atelier Annie Endings for more information.
Annie Eilenberg was a lazy girl who hoped to marry a rich man and never have to work in her life. Annie's worried parents consulted her grandfather, who was a great alchemist. He then decided to send her to Sera Island in order to push her to overcome her laziness and for her to become an Alchemist as well. His homunculi kidnap Annie and take her to Sera Island, where she becomes a reluctant participant in a competition to develop Sera Island's resort.
The game features seven different endings which are determined by the player's actions.
She winds up under the tutelage of Pepe, a fairy whom her grandfather sent to teach her alchemy. Annie then meets Hans Arlens, a member of the island's development committee. He escorts Annie to a ceremony, where she learns the rules of the competition and also the prize: being able to marry the king's son or daughter, as well as the title of Meister. Annie, viewing the prince as the ultimate in "marrying up", decides to work hard in the competition in order to win.
She is giving a first assignment by Hans to assess that she's qualified enough to participate in the competition. The task is to make a sign using alchemy. Hans gives her the materials needed as she has to synthesize in front of him and they don't have time to waste. She succeeds and briefly has the time to check out the shop connected to her workshop before Hans gives her a new assignment: synthesize a map of Sera Island. As Pepe and Annie are both new in town, Hans advises them to go to Basin and Quarry to gather materials.
At the Restaurant, she is scolded by Fitz Erberlin for not reading the sign saying the shop is closed. It turns out that it is due to the stove being broken and upon hearing that, Annie offers to fix it. Thanks to her, the stove is working again but she flees before Fitz can even thank her properly. At the Weapon Shop, she meets Amalie, the blacksmith. They introduce themselves to each other though the latter isn't very talkative. At the General Shop, Annie presents herself to the owner, Jacob Liefman, an old man who has been living on the island for a long time and thus can advise her if needed. While visiting the residential area, Annie meets the Captain of the Knights in the Committee HQ, who explains that the Knights are charged with the protection of the people. As Annie expresses her concern regarding gathering materials and encountering monsters, Gillian Clout suddenly appears and ends up becoming her bodyguard. In the Adventurer Guild, the Guild Owner Brigitte Gabrielle explains to Annie how the guild works. Brigitte laughes at her when she asks if she can get jobs here, until she learns that she's an alchemist, then changing her mind. In the Library, Annie surprises Melody Orkin, the librarian, secretly eating squid jerky during her working hours.
