Story
- "Weaving memories and tracing emotions.
For the truth that awaits ahead." - — Announcement description

The Aladissian Empire. It once thrived on a certain continent, having achieved remarkable development through alchemy that kept other nations at bay. However, it met its end due to a sudden and mysterious cataclysm.
Time progressed, and several centuries later. Alchemy became known as a "dangerous art that brings destruction,"and considered "evil" and "taboo" in this new era. In this now forbidden and perilous land, a lone alchemist sets foot. Her name is Yumia Liessfeldt. After losing her mother in an accident three years ago, Yumia discovered that she was from a family of alchemists and began to question many things.
Why did Aladiss fall? Why did alchemy become "taboo"?...Is alchemy truly "evil"? Believing that all truths lie within the continent, Yumia embarks on a journey to uncover its lost history.
Synthesis System
Manipulate the mana residing in materials to create new items based on recipes. The items you craft will exhibit powerful effects in various situations, such as exploration and combat. The strength of an item's power depends on the materials used in synthesis, so select your materials carefully while assessing the power of the embedded mana.
On fields, you can use simple synthesis, which is different from normal synthesis. By using materials, you can create useful items on the spot and anywhere, which can be a significant help during the challenging exploration of the continent.
Battle System
In real-time combat, you'll be tested on your ability to make split-second decisions. Utilize two types of attack ranges (range) and switch between skills to fight strategically. Additionally, synthesized items can transform into shapes such as swords or spears, which can be used to attack. Since these items are reusable, don't hesitate to deploy them and drive away enemies that stand in your way.
Three front guards and three rear guards can be freely interchanged during battle. Under certain conditions, the powerful Friend Action combination attack can be triggered! Team up and face the enemy. In addition, each character's unique special move, Maximized Mana Surge, can be used to unleash a powerful attack on the enemy.
Building
In various parts of the fields, you can build a base. Choose your preferred style from the catalog, and it will be completed in no time. Enjoy the ease of building and create according to your wishes. Arrange furniture to design a space tailored to your taste or equip powerful features like "functional modules"...
In addition, by increasing the “comfort level” of your base, bonuses such as the ability to develop the base and strengthen the abilities of Yumia and her friends are also available!
Camp
Create a campsite and use it on the field to set up camp. Spend a relaxing time together by cooking or resting.
Cooking provides useful benefits for exploration and battle, and sometimes events that can only be seen at camps occurs!
Quests
When progressing through the main quest, you can receive exclusive quests for party characters.
Furthermore, you can receive various quests such as normal quests that reward you for completing requests, location quests that you can receive by unlocking landmarks or at Shrines of Prayer, and random quests that appear time and again while exploring.

Trivia
- Atelier Yumia is the first Atelier game to debut on Xbox.
- According to an interview at Tokyo Game Show 2024, Atelier Yumia is thus far the largest-scale development project in the Atelier series.[18]
- Junzo Hosoi has shared many interesting tidbits from various interviews:
- Atelier Yumia draw inspiration from many different games. In an exclusive Xbox interview, the first Halo game was used as reference for Atelier Yumia.[19] In other interviews, Hosoi mentions Valheim and Oblivion, and in passing Skyrim, as inspirations for open world design.[20] Valheim in particular was cited for its building system.[21] In an interview with DualShockers, multiple JRPGs were part of their thought process like Persona and Tales of, as well as Genshin Impact. However, for those kind of games, he said they did not focus on one particular game when referencing.[22] In RPGsite, it was mentioned that the energy system was directly inspired by Fallout's irradiated areas.[23]
- A Minimap preview article stated that, according to Hosoi, character designs drew inspiration from global trends — particularly K-pop aesthetics.[24] The same article also stated that the development team reportedly revised the script 15 times to ensure an engaging and impactful storyline.
- Due to his interest in survival crafting games, Hosoi mentioned how he would love to implement PvP elements into the Atelier series. He considered making it Atelier Yumia DLC content, but emphasized that it was only a consideration.[22]
